Toioho XX is an event celebrating 20 years of Maori Visual Arts at Massey University. With celebrations that include multiple exhibitions, a symposium and an art trail, Toioho XX highlights work by graduating students, alumni and staff. The event reflects not only the accomplishments of the current MVA programme but also showcases past work of students throughout the courses history.
Foundry were approached to design an identity for Toioho XX along with event collateral. The brand mark for this event needed to be contemporary, crafted and culturally influenced. We designed custom lettering for the mark based on modern woven strands that form the XX numerals.
The catalogue featured significant artist works and a collection of essays along with a summary of alumni and artist achievements over the years. The emboss detail on the cover emphasises the significance of this milestone event. We also designed a fold-out brochure to help guide visitors on an arts trail throughout the Manawatu, showcasing public artworks, installations and exhibitions throughout the region.
